Modern-Shed provides solutions for limited living and storage space problems. You might be considering a home addition, converting current space such as a garage, bedroom, attic, basement, bonus room or even enclosing a carport in order to give you the extra space you need. You may not have even considered a detached separate structure in your yard. Modern-Shed provides the ultimate solution, as it provides not only more room, but private space only steps from your main home. If you need more room for a home office, an exercise room, craft space, art or music studio, man cave, diva den, photography studio, hobby room, writers den, meditation room, a play room or just a place to hang out and relax in your garden, Modern-Shed was the first and is the highest quality structure of its kind. Pre-fabricated panels can be carried into or around tight spaces for fast assembly. Instead of converting your garage or transforming your carport or turning your spare bedroom or basement into your new, needed space, consider a new style of shed – from the originator of the Modern-Shed concept, completely separated from your home. Imagine a quiet space for yourself or a space to send the kids to play.

The most popular size and use for a Modern-Shed is a home office at 120 square feet. Typically dining room tables or spare bedrooms are used for working at home. Adding onto your home can be extremely expensive and time-consuming. House additions can be complicated and incur high architectural, engineering and permitting costs. Whether you are an entrepreneur or an employee, working from home can be challenging but extremely beneficial. Having a separate room away from the hubbub of the home can be extremely helpful! Modern-Shed can provide that experience which may also be tax-deductible. Combined with the money saved from eliminating or reducing commuting expenses offsets the cost of the structure. Transforming your garage displaces your vehicle, renovating the den or spare bedroom can change the way you socialize and turning the basement into workspace might just do away with your home theater. Working in one's own home office is not only green, it reduces stress and adds value to the property. Our clients love the fact they can go mere steps to their home office or studio. Photographers, artists, corporate heads, you name it, realize that working from a home office contributes to their lives significantly. Modern-Shed puts the word "modern" in the shed concept. Modern Home Offices are built to code and can be set up in a matter of a few days once delivered. It's like an instant office or workspace. The idea of working in one's own home office has been one that has proliferated considerably in the past ten years and will rise in popularity with increasing fuel and transportation costs.

The second most typical use of a Modern-Shed is a personal space such as an art studio, home gym, man cave or diva den. Artists, whether professional or hobbyists, encompassing all aspects of art such as painting, photography, sewing or music usually desire a space they can “get messy” in and don’t have to worry about cleaning up in order to have dinner, for example, when a dining room is used. When considering a home addition, or transforming the spare bedroom, bonus room or den, something to consider is the possible mess, sound or smells associated with the use. Hobbies or professions such as oil painting, sculpting, music, crafts and photography all have smells and or sounds which may be undesirable, at least at times, within the home itself. A separate room or space such as a Modern-Shed provides the ultimate solution. The transom or clerestory windows bring in much natural light craved by most artists. Many of our current customers rave about their Modern-Art Studio and love that the studio is only steps from their home. Utilizing a Modern-Shed for an art studio space does not usurp the use of the family garage either. One of the other great uses for a Modern-Shed is an exercise, meditation and yoga room. Again, an exercise room, a yoga or meditation room is best when away from the house as a peaceful getaway. A Modern-Exercise room or gym can provide a workout space where you can blare music if you desire without bothering anyone else in the home. A yoga or meditation space is best quiet, which may not be the case if a room in the house is used. Modern-Exercise, Modern-Yoga or Modern-Meditation sheds can be customized with higher ceilings or more insulation and as few or as many windows or doors as you want. Exercising in a Modern-Shed can also be considered a "man cave" by some. Visualize gym equipment, a big screen TV, a great stereo, a wet bar, and a beer fridge doubling as a protein shake fridge! When done exercising, fold up the treadmill and turn on the big game with your buddies in your own space -- a true Man Cave or Diva Den experience. Many folks consider converting the garage or turning the carport into this space, but don’t really want to give up the space for their vehicles or toys. A Modern-Shed can become your quiet space, your loud space, your messy room, your hangout place or your place to focus. Modern-Sheds are much more than just a box or a room. They provide you with the experience to help you simply live!

Another much desired use for an add-on space or room is a guest cottage or guest house. Although a building permit is usually required for such a structure, it is still a very viable solution and alternative to adding on to your home, turning the garage into a bedroom suite or combining two bedrooms. There is more to consider when doing a larger structure which may have a bathroom or even a kitchenette. Every local building jurisdiction has different rules governing the use of additional dwelling units and home additions in general so it is prudent to check with your local building departments before considering an additional structure or even a home addition. Most people will consider converting the rec room, basement, attic or garage to transform and create a space for mom and dad to stay or for entertaining guests. Many guests love the idea of a separate private space but only steps away from the main house. The Modern-Shed provides a great alternative to adding on to your home. Many cities now allow for an ADU (Additional Dwelling Unit) depending on the size of the building lot. If done correctly, the guest cottage can double as a home office, yoga studio, exercise space, or man cave. Turning your basement or carport or even garage into a gym, guest room or home office can result in a damp-feeling room. The light, airy feel of a Modern-Shed will provide you and your guests with privacy, warmth and convenience, not to mention higher property value.
