“We started in March 2014 with initial planning and design work that morphed into various design phases; property owner and designer Rebecca Froelich worked closely with the Modern Shed team as she developed the footprint and features of her 325 square foot bungalow. In working with a small footprint, Rebecca had to carefully select and revised every detail based upon spatial and ergonomic characteristics, when inches counted everything requires a close review and evaluation. After finalizing the bungalow plans – 325 square feet of studio, including bathroom and kitchen, Modern Shed broke ground in August and we finished in January of 2015. “Our experience with the Modern Shed team was extraordinary, from the initial design to completion. It’s been a few weeks since we’ve had our 10×10 office shed built in our backyard. We have been enjoying the finished shed as a much needed home office space. Trevor worked with us during the design phase and was very professional. He provided multiple rendered drawings that helped us visualize the shed. He also connected us with the builder and electrician. The construction did take longer than originally anticipated, mainly because of the rain in California pushing the project into the holidays. There were also other hiccups like a window and panel that arrived damaged, but the builder who worked with us — Shawn — took care of it. We were very happy with the quality of construction. Shawn paid attention to the details and did amazing work! He was friendly and great at communicating. He also worked on a couple of extras like adding slatted wood panels on one of the walls and installing a rodent barrier. He also brought in Jose, who did a beautiful job installing the drywall and painting the shed. The electrician, Ed, was also efficient and friendly. Ed hooked us up with power and set up the Mini split (air conditioner/heating unit). Much needed this winter. We wanted an ethernet cable routed from the house to the shed and Ed was able to set that up as well. He was meticulous in his work. Our past experience with other contractors hasn’t always been the best, but Shawn and Ed self-managed and were easy to work with. Shawn and team also cleaned up really well after themselves and only left behind our beautiful shed. We love it! Would definitely recommend working with Modern Shed.”

“I had a wonderful experience with many Modern Shed representatives and affiliates designing, and building the art studio of my dreams. My “shed” was a large 14’ x16’ concrete foundation and stucco building, with upgraded windows/ sliding doors on all four walls, not an easy build. Every bit of this structure was designed and created to my specifications and customizations. The structure is built better than the existing 1964 era house on our site, and was designed so well that it looks like it always has been there, says my husband. The process was pretty smooth, and any slight and inevitable bumps in the construction process were immediately taken care of by the Modern Shed team. “We décides in 2024 that we needed dedicated offices spaces as both my partner and I worked from home and wanted separation from our home and children lives. We investigated many options: expanding our house, loosing our garage and finally decided that building separate units was the best way to go as we had enough space for it. We have 2 kids under 2, and my husband works from home, so we really needed a space he could work from that was detached from the house. We are very happy both with our experience from working with Modern Shed, and with the office shed they provided us with. Modern Shed was easy to work with when designing our shed. Our HOA had some custom requirements for us to build on our property, and Modern Shed was the only company we found that was able to meet all of the requirements. The only drawback we experienced during the process was that delivery of the shed did take about 3 weeks longer than expected, which was inconvenient, but overall did not greatly impact our timeline. David Hynson was the installer Modern Shed recommended and he did a great job building the shed and coordinating with contractors for the electrical and HVAC portion of the installation. Overall we are very happy with the final product. The office shed is the perfect place for my husband to work from. Not only is it a quiet and comfortable place where my husband can focus, but the shed is also very aesthetically pleasing with a beautiful wood ceiling and lots of windows to let in natural light. “Love our Modern Shed!! It was exactly the solution we needed for a home gym and extra storage (our new house has an odd lack of closets). The design process was very easy and actually kinda fun. The unit was built and shipped in a reasonable amount of time (especially given post pandemic supply chain issues). And the installation team did an amazing job—we were juggling a newborn and an 18 month old when they were here and they were so considerate of our time and privacy; they kept the yard as neat as possible and went above and beyond with last minute customization requests (including a Trex deck, lighting, outdoor speakers, and other miscellaneous last minute things). We met more of our neighbors in the month after the shed was finished than the whole previous 9 months we’d lived here due to everyone wanting to compliment it and inquire about details.
